Feb 09, 2010 - 10:02 AM
Amongst all the hype surrounding the 2010 Formula One Season, majority of the anticipation buzzed around the new teams and its new cars. Virgin Racing is one of the new teams entering this whiplash competition and they have recently unveiled the new cars for the season.
Since the car has be designed a 100% digital via computational fuel dynamics, Virgin Racing chose the less beaten track to introduce the car to viewers online. Technical Director Nick Wirth has also broken the common yard stick of wind tunnel testing and has tested the car only virtually though systems at Wirth Research.
The car was tested at Silverstone recently, and will be seen during the testing at Jerez on 10th February 8, 2010. The radical looking car goes well with the brand image of Virgin racing and the ‘rockstar’ entrepreneur Richard Branson. In time we will know how seriously competitive the car is.
The car will be given a new name through competitions held online, but is currently tagged VR-01. The car, at its heart will have a Cosworth CA2010 normally aspirated V8 engine with an angle of 90°. The 2.4 liter engine is married to a 7-speed Virgin Racing precision gearbox. The cars will be commanded by Lucas Di Grassi and Timo Glock.
