Renault has a new boss for 2010
Jan 06, 2010 - 02:16 PM
With the new year continue the changes in the world of F1. Renault has appointed Frenchman Eric Boullier as its new team principal for 2010. Since the announcement of its new partners Genii Capital, the team was searching for a new boss. Bob Bell handled duties since Briatore's ban and F1 as well as Renault fans would have wanted to see him continue.
Boullier, at 36 has been the CEO of Genii’s driver management firm Gravity Sport Management since last year and had previously been boss of the DAMS GP2 team and Team France in A1GP. His age could well prove to be his limitation with most other teams sporting experienced bosses and drivers. Enthusiasm, though, wouldn't be in short supply!
“I am incredibly proud to be joining the Renault F1 Team as team principal,” Boullier said. He is also confident of bringing Renault back to its winning ways and would be gunning for the title in 2010. Whether the car complies or not!
Bob Bell, who was placed in temporary charge will return to his role of overseeing the squad's design and technical departments. “Bob Bell will oversee the design office, production and the technical development of the car. We have already had a lot of discussions and we think in the same way," added Boullier. This could also be an indication that Boullier is perhaps not as technically inclined.
