Practice Session 1(Monza): McLarens parade triumphan
Sep 02, 2005 - 04:36 PM
McLarens emerged triumphant at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza practice session 1, with Pedro de la Rosa setting the quickest pace on Friday morning. In fact all the three McLarens were fast indeed!
Pedro de la Rosa was the fastest with 1minute 20.201seconds, while Kimi Raikkonen clocked 1minute 21.842seconds (third fastest) and Juan Pablo Montoya timed 1minute 22.078seconds (fourth fastest). Mark Webber, in his Williams-BMW, drove second fastest at 1minute 21.816seconds. And if you thought that the quick pace of the Williams- BMW was by sheer accident, then you got to take a look at the team's other car driven by Nick Heidfeld, that also ran among the top 5 fastest cars during the day (i.e. 5th fastest). Meanwhile, Toyota's Ricardo Zonta and BAR's Takumo Sato were 6th and 7th fastest. Michael Schumacher clocked 1minute 23.739seconds, whereas teammate Rubens Barrichello timed 1minute 24.196seconds.
And for Red Bull-Cosworth, David Couthard timed 1minute 24.001seconds, whereas Vitantonio Liuzzi clocked 1minute 24.166seconds.
So where were the Renaults, Toyotas and Saubers? And where was Jenson Button? They were perhaps saving their energy for the D-days!
