Ferrari bags the constructor’s title
Sep 13, 2007 - 09:51 AMIt's a bit of a damp squib, but Ferrari has clinched the Constructor's title for 2007. With McLaren deciding not to appeal the FIA ruling of September 18, the nearest rival Ferrari has is BMW with 90 points and they couldn't possibly go past Ferrari even if Ferrari didn't race at all!
According to a Ferrari statement, the team is now keen to concentrate on clinching the driver's championship as well. With this win, Ferrari's tally in this competition to fifteen, seven of them in the last nine years. This was indeed one time when they seemed like they would be distant second-placed.
The statement that sounded disbelieving, Ferrari says: Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has actually chosen not to appeal against the decision of the FIA World Council taken on 13th September last, thus accepting the sentence handed out for violation of article 151c of the International Sporting Code. Ferrari will now invest all its efforts over the final three races of this championship in trying to also win the Drivers' world title. Tough ask, but it's not impossible.
