Nico Hulkenberg will debut in the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix, racing for Williams-Cosworth. Having carved his way through Formula BMW, A1 GP, Formula Three and GP2 series, Nico will now be racing at the pinnacle of racing in Formula 1. Just 22 years old, Nico is one of the younger drivers to be on the grid.

At just 10 years old, Nico made an early start to his racing career with Karting. Three years later he was the German Junior Karting Champion and the following year he was the German Kart Champion.

Nico moved on to the Formula BMW in 2005, and won the title in his debut season very comfortably. He also finished first in Formula BMW world final but was stripped off his title after claims that he had brake tested his rivals under the safety car period.

In 2006, he joined the A1 GP, with German A1 Grand Prix team and took nine wins, making him the second most successful driver in A1 GP till date, and helped Germany win the title.

The Formula Three series was also a nice comfortable ride for the German, as he made the right moves on and off the track. His first championship came in 2008, and had a quite strong presence in the Saturday feature races.

The 2008 GP2 series was a blast for Nico as he eventually became one of the most successful debutants. In his first race itself he qualified with a pole and went on to finish fourth. He also was the first driver to win a race under lights after a brilliant performance in Qatar. His initial dominance fazed out over the season and he finished sixth in the championship.

He continued with the ART Racing Team for the 2009 season. He hit off a perfect race weekend in Nurburgring, taking the pole position, two fastest laps and two wins. He went on to clinch the title with two races to spare. This was the first time the title was wrapped up without the usual final round decider. Nico won the championship with a 25 point lead over Russian Vitaly Petrov.

In December 2007, Nico was given a chance to test the WilliamsF1 car in Jerez, Spain. His brilliant performance bagged him the role of a test driver for Williams for 2008, and later extended to 2009. He will now race for the team full time, starting with the 2010 Bahrain GP. Rubens Barrichello, who moved on from Brawn GP will partner him in the new Cosworth powered Williams.

Given the excellent performances he has been throwing around, Nico will be surely a force to recon with on the Formula One grid. Well, being a German racing is surely in his genes, but this kid is definitely a cool customer, only to transform into a turbo-charged monster once behind the wheel! It will surely be a great pleasure to watch Nico this season, of that we are certainly certain!
