The Valencia Street Circuit will be firm on the F1 calendar as the European GP till 2014. The first ever F1 race on the Valencia Street Circuit was held on 24th August 2008. Partly pure street with stretches of the dock, the circuit also has sections specifically designed for racing by Hermann Tilke. Tilke also was responsible for building the race infrastructural buildings.
The circuit is exciting with long straights and the characteristic Tilke turns at the end of these flat out sections. The circuit also has a 140 meter long swing bridge, adding uniqueness to the already unique circuit.
Valencia is the fifth venue to host the European Grand Prix. Germany’s Nurburgring has staged 12, Britain's Brands Hatch and Spain's Jerez have two apiece, and Donington Park has hosted one European Grand Prix.
Since Barcelona already hosts the Spanish GP, the controversy still revolves on why one country is hosting two GPs in one season.
Recent Results:
2010: Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull)
2009: Rubens Barrichello (Brawn-Mercedes)
2008: Felipe Massa (Ferrari)
