Most Driver Wins:
Due to 12 teams now set firm on the 2010 calendar, the points system had to be changed to accommodate the larger number of drivers. A while ago, the top six drivers were awarded points, which were further reformed to the top eight, and now, the top ten drivers will be awarded points in the format stated below.

Point System:

1st: 25 points (previously 25)

2nd: 18 points (previously 20)

3rd: 15 points (previously 15)

4th: 12 points (previously 10)

5th: 10 points (previously 8)

6th: 8 points (previously 6)

7th: 6 points (previously 5)

8th: 4 points (previously 3)

9th: 2 points (previously 2)

10th: 1 point (previously 1)

Tyre Rule:

The tyre rules were also changed, but this move will surely test the Team Principal’s tactical genius. The drivers are now to start the race on the same set of tyres as the Q3. Softer tyres can help rope in faster times at a low fuel load, but on the downside, they will now be able to go the distance on a full car load of fuel. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see the various combinations sprung on the field!

The FIA has also proposed that one set of tires to be returned before the start of the second practice session, and two sets before the start of the third session. This will encourage the teams to practice more.

The FIA has also mentioned the intent of banning the double diffusers for the 2011 season.
