Qualifying 1

And Q1 is underway with a 38 degree temperature on track.

The temperature is affecting car control and as seen yesterday in practice, there is much improvement in the McLarens as Lewis Hamilton takes pole. But remember the Brawns? They continue to rule and Barrichello is at pole now. Kimi Raikkonen in third, Vettel fourth Button fifth and Buemi sixth.

The Force India cars are doing better than last time, but still not out of relegation. Heikki Kovalainen is inexplicably in the relegation zone as is Nico Rosberg who is now back on track with Heikki. The Williams has the pae but hasn't been able to maintain it over the course of a race. Heikki's done well and he's at 7th now but Rosberg! What a drive. Straight up to P3.

It's been a tough day for the Renaults too. And for Toyota. Jarno Trulli is in the relegation zone along with Timo Glock. Something's up with the Toyota all of a sudden. And Rosberg going for another lap. And he has taken pole position. The Williams is back to short bursts of speed. Really hope they can keep it up in the race.

With just a little over two minutes left, Hamilton and the BMWs are back on track. Felipe Massa too is on track. Massa has P2, Glock P3 and Webber takes P1! He was in the gravel trap a while ago! And Trulli is up to P4. Alonso into P8, Button on track and he takes P1! The times are falling rapidly! The BMWs are in danger of being relegated. On track now with the Force Indias. And Kubica is relegated as he manages only 16th. Sutil has 19th. Fisi is 20th. Bourdais manages 15th which pushes Piquet out and Heidfeld moves up to 12th pushing Bourdais back out! Hamilton has another go and he is P4.

Qualifying 2

Cars fairly racing out on track. And Ferrari has no KERS this weekend... they have opted out for this race seeing that it didn'thelp them much!

Rosberg on track and he is actually chasing down one of the Toyotas! And Rosberg sets the fastest time for the moment. The Brawn GP cars on track now. And Barrichello takes pole immediately. Jarno Trulli on track now. The Brawns and Williams are sharing the top four for now... and Trulli bumps in to P4! Mark Webber, meanwhile, has taken P1 and the Red Bull looks promising for sure. Heidfeld on track now. And there is much work for BMW in ensuring that one driver can remain in the top positions.

Ferrari struggling again and Massa looks out of depth

Just 3 minutes left for the second qualifying session to end, Toyota and Toro Rosso have an uphill task trying to get out of the knockout zone. The Brawn GP cars still trying hard to better themselves and Button has P1, Buemi is out of the relegation zone into P8. Mark Webber back on track. He wants the P1 and he's got it! Well, is this a Red Bull weekend? Seb Vettel now goes fastest to make it a P1 finish. Can the cars last the race?

Qualifying 3

Red Bull vying for their first ever pole position in F1. But it's Fernando Alonso on track first. Impressive run by the Renault so far except for Piquet of course! Renault is running a new diffuser... Rosberg has set the fastest time for now but Alonso is two seconds quicker! Raikkonen and Webber battling each other. Mark Webber has gone quickest and Rubens Barrichello now outpaces him.

Lewis Hamilton on track now and he is behind the pace at the first intermediate. Fernando Alonso has lodged himself at P4 above Kimi Raikkonen in P6. Nico Rosberg, meanwhile is doing superbly at the moment. And he is in line for P1 and he loses time at the final turn to manage only P4. Hamilton doesn't do too well going only 7th fastest. Webber having another go at the pole position along with Jenson Button. Both going very fast and are well within the P1 time by Rubens.

Webber quicker by almost a second now! Final sector coming up... and Webber has P1 and here comes Button... he gets P2! Seb Vettel on track and he gets P1! It's  Red Bull 1-2 but Barrichello can't do anything about it and he gets only P3! So Red Bull gets their first ever pole in F1 and it's almost a 1-2. What a performance. Fernando Alonso has sneaked into P2 at the last moment!
