Entering the sixth season, the team is yet to make an impact in the sport. The team barely caused a ripple when Sebastian Vettel in 2008 took the chequered flag and the 'junior team' eclipsed Red Bull in the constructors' standing that season. That was the first and last time the team enjoyed success in any form.
The expectations that built with the team did not bear fruit in the following two years. A young Spaniard, Jaime Alguersuari, had replaced the underperforming Sebastian Bourdais mid-season. But despite its efforts and promises, the team still remains somewhere at the back of the grid.
With younger teams like Force India drastically outperforming Toro Rosso on the tracks, the team looks like it will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat just to call themselves a mid-field contender. With just 13 points to claim as theirs, the only teams worse than them are the three new teams that didn't score points at all.
With an array of regulation changes, how the team will fare against the others remains a big question. Only time will tell if Toro Rosso can rise up and become a team to watch or if it will continue to lie in the slump and let the new teams run over them.
