HRT or the Hispania Racing Team was for a brief moment known as Campos Meta. The team before the start of the 2010 season was the trending topic owing to rumours of its apparent inability of readying the car for the season. A possible Stefan GP overhaul and a Volkswagen takeover was rumoured as well. The chaos settled once the car made it to the grid of the 2010 Bahrain GP.
The team was founded by former Formula One driver Adrian Campos, only to be taken over by investor Jose Ramon Carabante with ex-Force India employee Collin Kolles as team principal.
Bruno Senna, nephew of three time world champion Ayrton Senna joined his teammate from GP2, Karun Chandhok behind the wheel. The latter half of the season saw Chandhok's seat taken by Christian Klien and Sakon Yamamoto.
HRT's survival through the season is quite a miracle as the team was hounded with financial troubles, pay drivers, the severance of Dallara chassis deal and the ignobility of being the slowest car on the grid.
Having survived till 2011, the team still has a fighting chance to make its mark. The greatest achievement the team has to claim is its survival, landing ahead of the financial and technical super-house, Virgin.
