Hungary GP: Lap by Lap Report
It's a beautiful, sunny day at Budapest for round 12 of the 2010 F1 season. It's a lovely 28 outside and the track temperature is 45. This track has been host to rather eventful races from the epic crashouts in 2006 which also was last year's World Champion Jenson Button's first win, and 2009 where Felipe Massa crashed out after been hit in the head by a spring that flew off Barrichello's Brawn GP. Karun Chandhok is not racing today due financial reasons.
Grid
It's the Red Bulls in front with Vettel taking pole. The Ferraris are right behind him and on row 3 are Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. The Renaults are next on the grid. Pedro de la Rosa and Nico Hulkenberg complete the top ten. Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello are on P11 and 12 with Adrian Sutil and Michael Schumacher behind them on row 7. Sebastien Buemi and Vitanonio Liuzzi are next on the grid. Jamie Alguesuari and Timo Glock are on row 9 after outperforming the Lotus cars for the first time. The next on the grid are the Lotus followed by Lucas di Grassi and Bruno Senna. Kamui Kabayashi, due to a 5 place penality, and Sakon Yamamoto, replacing Karun Chandhok due to financial reasons, complete the grid.
Five lights illuminates…..
It's a good start for Red Bull and Ferrari but starting on the dirty side of the track has its disadvantages as Alonso squeezes in between the Red Bulls.
Its Vettel leading the race with Alonso, Webber, Massa, Petrov, Hamilton, Rosberg, Kubica, Barrichello and Hulkenberg completing the top 10.
Lap 3
Petrov makes a mistake. Lewis isn't one to let it slip. In one quick move, Hamilton moves to fifth. The Red bull have for the entire season been faster than all the other cars. And Vettel is proving how much faster his car is compared to the others. His lead over Alonso has already increased to 2.588 seconds. That's about a second a lap.
Way back in the pack, its race over for Jamie Alguesuari due to a blown engine. He is making no friends, staying on the track, leaving all the oil and debris.
Lap 16
Liuzzi loses a front wing and the safety car is out to clear the debris. Most drivers hit the pits seizing the opportunity.
All hell breaks loose in the pits. Rosberg's tyre comes loose and runs off towards Sauber pit crew, misses one of them by mere centemetres and bounces off along the rest of the pit lane. Amidst all this chaos, Robert Kubica got wrongly signalled by his pit crew and crashes into Adrian Sutil and its race over for the Force India car.
After all the chaos, with the safety car still out.Its Webber leading the race, Vettel, Alonso, Hamilton, Massa, Barichello, Petrov, Hulkenberg, de la Rosa and Button completing the top 10.
Lap 24
Decision on Kubica's actions is made. It's a 10 second stop and go penalty for what was clearly a pit crew error.
Hamilton is out of the race due to a gear box failure. This means the Red Bulls have all the chances of replacing McLaren on top of the constructor's championship.
Meanwhile, Mark Webber is flying through the track in ease and sets the fastest lap at 1:24.778 in the previous lap. Behind him are Vettel, the Ferraris of Alonso and Massa, Barrichello, Petrov, Hulkenberg, de la Rosa, Button and Kobayashi.

Lap 30
Drive through Penalty declared for Vettel for exceeding 10 car lengths. Sebastian's Confused at why he's been punished. He does the drive through two laps down in lap 32. He is knocked down to third as he comes out right behind Alonso.
Lap 39
Mark Webber proves why he's a top contender for the championship as he set the fastest lap, lap after lap after lap. There a gap of 20 seconds between him and Alonso's Ferrari.
Lap 44
Webber finally makes his pitstop. After the chaotic pits, its refreshing to see a perfect pit stop. He rejoins the race, retaining his position, well ahead of Alonso.
Lap 56
